What Is API Flanges?
These forged API Flanges have been designed in accord with the industrial standards. The API Raised Face Flange has been fabricated using best quality material raw material, from our vendors and is sourced responsibly. Stainless Steel API Rtj Flange, specifically speaking grade 316 is known for its excellent performance at elevated temperature along with good resistance against corrosion ( pitting, chlorine stress related corrosion cracking and against some acidic solutions) and durability. Generally, most of our existing clients in our customer base prefer getting the Stainless Steel API Flanges produced either in austenitic stainless steel grade 304, as it is cost efficient or grade 316, that is if they require additional corrosion resistance properties at higher temperature with good mechanical strength.

Api 6a Flanges Use High-pressure Temperatures?
API Blind Flange has been fabricated with the wall thickness being or matching the same dimensions, as that of the matching pipes. Our range of API Flanges Material takes into account the requirements of numerous other industries. As manufacturers we recommend using the API Flanges Standard ideally at high pressure, as well as varied cold or hot temperatures.

Refer API 6a 6b And 6bx Flanges Weight Chart According to ASME B16.5 And (American Petroleum Institute) API 6A 5000 Flange Dimensions.

The API Slip On Flange manufactured in our factory meets the requirements of various industries such as heavy engineering, automobile, railways as well as pipeline engineering. These flanges are available in Standard Specifications, and 10000# API Flange Dimension. Our range of API Weld Neck Flange could also be customized as required by all of our Clients. As expected of Copper Nickel API Blind Flange, this component has good resistance to biofouling, which in turn is caused by microbes in the surrounding area. This resistance property against biofouling of the copper nickel alloy based API Integral Flange is inherently present.
FAQs
What is API 6A flanges? ›
API 6A flanges in 5000# class and below are often made from A105 carbon steel with a 45K minimum yield strength, whereas the API 6BX flanges of 10000# class and above require a steel with an even higher yield strength. The most common of those is AISI 4130 with a 75K yield.
What is API 6A type 6B? ›Dimensions of Type 6B flanges for 5000 psi (34.5 MPa) rated working pressure. Type 6B flanges are of the ring joint type and are not designed for face-to-face make-up. The connection make-up bolting force reacts on the metallic ring gasket.
What is a 6BX flange? ›6BX flanges are of the ring joint type and designed with a raised face. Depending on the tolerances, the connection make-up bolting force may react on the raised face of the flange when the gasket has been properly seated. This support prevents damage to the flange or gasket from excessive bolt torque.
How much does a 10 blind flange weight? ›Nominal Pipe Size | Slip On | Blind |
---|---|---|
8 | 58 | 81 |
10 | 81 | 124 |
12 | 115 | 185 |
14 | 165 | 250 |
The raised face is intended to decrease the surface area of the seal, thus concentrating the surface pressure applied when mating the flange. The result is a stronger seal. The raised face has a machined serrated finish that will bite into the gasket whenever pressure is applied.
How do I know what size blind flange I need? ›How to measure blind flange - YouTube
What is the area of the raised face of a 6 inch blind flange? ›FLANGE NPS | Outside Diameter | Raised Face (R) |
---|---|---|
4″ | 9.00″ | 6.19″ |
5″ | 10.00″ | 7.31″ |
6″ | 11.00″ | 8.50″ |
8″ | 13.50″ | 10.62″ |
Flat face (FF) flanges are similar to the RF flanges, but they do not have the raised area like the RF flange. Instead, the whole surface is flat. That means that the gasket used with the FF flange has full contact with the whole surface where two flanges are mated.
What are three 3 basic flange face types? ›There are three common types of flange face, the plain/flat, raised, and ring-type joint (RTJ).
Do all flanges need gaskets? ›...

How do you pick a blind flange? ›
When choosing blind flanges, you must consider the best flange material and dimensions in relation to the piping standards and requirements of your intended application. Generally, your flange material should match the connecting pipe material. The most common blind flange materials are steel and stainless steel.
What is the difference between blank flange and blind flange? ›Blind flanges are commonly produced and stocked in several different materials. They are often called Blank Flanges. These flanges are used for capping off or terminating another flange.
Do blind flanges need gaskets? ›The best practice is to use a standard gasket for these blinds. Blind flanges, just like standard pipe flanges, can be raised face (RF) or flat faced (FF). If the flange is RF we would recommend a standard ring gasket that is appropriate for the service and/or test.
What is RF for flange? ›The raised face (RF) is the most common type of flange facing used. It is called a raised face flange because it has a raised surface above the bolting circle where the gasket is placed. These flanges are widely used in oil and gas pipelines. They are appropriate for both high and low temperatures and pressures.
Is flange a dimension? ›Flange dimensions are determined by the pipe size and the pressure class required for the application. Flanges are standardized according publications from organizations like ASME, MSS, API and others. flange dimensions for pipes ranging 1/2" to 24" - in classes ranging 150 to 2500.
How do you find the surface area of a flange? ›The Area of flange or area above the considered section formula is defined as the space occupied by a flange and is represented as Aabv = B*((D/2)-dnl) or Area of Section above considered Level = Width of Beam section*((Outer length of I section/2)-Distance from neutral layer).
How do you find the pressure rating of a flange? ›Calculating Rated Flange Pressure
Pr = pressure rating class index. For all designations, Class 300 and above, Pr is equal to the class designation (e.g., for Class 300, Pr = 300). pt = rated working pressure, bar (psi), for the specified material at temperature T.

Types of Line Blinds
Line Blinds come in three basic forms with different names. These names include Spectacle Blinds, Figure Eights, Paddle Blinds, Skillet Blinds, Spades, and so on. These names describe particular devices used to isolate or “turn off” portions of piping systems.
What is spade blind? ›
Spade and Spacers are part of a family referred to as Line Blinds. Together they perform the same function as a Spectacle Blind as essentially a simplistic valve. The Spade or Spacer is fitted in the line between two flanges and is bolted in place.
What is a paddle blind? ›A Paddle Blind is basically the solid half of a Spectacle Blind. A Paddle Blind is often made from one solid metal disc and will usually have a thin length of metal attached to one end to be used as a handle. A finished assembly will resemble the shape of a paddle, hence the name.
What is spectacle blind? ›A Spectacle Blind is a steel plate cut into two discs of a certain thickness. The two discs are attached to each other by section of steel similar to the nose piece of a pair of glasses. One of the discs is a solid plate, and the other is a ring, whose inside diameter is equal to that of a flange. Spectacle blind.
